Supervised hours will start counting after registering as a CCMI-Intern.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Certified Case Manager Interventionist<\/strong> (<b>CCMI<\/b>):\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"ul2\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s2\"><strong>CCMI-i<\/strong> status, plus<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s3\">Must have experience as a health care professional with a certification, license or degree, using either one of the following two options:<\/span>\n<ul class=\"ul2\">\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s3\">1) Qualifying underlying credential\u00a0or license as a health care professional, and at least 2,080 hours (approximately one year full time work) as a credentialed or licensed health care professional; or<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s3\">2) A minimum of a 2-year degree (i.e., Associates Degree) in any major, and at least 4,160 hours (approximately two years full time work) as a health care professional;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s3\">Complete specified 5 Modules (at least 125 hours) education in case management and intervention training coursework from a Breining Institute Accredited (BIA) Program.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s2\">Must pass the Certified Case Manager Interventionist Examination (CCMIE), administered and available online through Breining Institute.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Certified Case Manager Interventionist &#8211; Masters Level<\/strong> (<b>CCMI-M<\/b>):\n<ul>\n<li><strong>CCMI <\/strong>Credential, plus any one of the following:\n<ul>\n<li>At least five (5) years health care professional clinical experience;<\/li>\n<li>At least two (2) years health care professional clinical experience after having been awarded\u00a0the <strong>CCMI<\/strong> Credential; or<\/li>\n<li>A Masters or Doctorate Degree in the healing arts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr noshade=\"noshade\" size=\"5\" \/>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Qualifying Health Care Professional Credential\u00a0or License<\/span><span style=\"color: #800000;\">:<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Qualifying credentials and licenses include those held by substance use disorders counselors, registered nurses, marriage and family therapists, licensed clinical social workers, etc.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The contemplated qualifying licenses or certifications typically require formal education programs of at least one or two years, and at least one or two years (2,000 to 4,000 hours) of clinical experience.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Qualifying Degree:<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Qualifying degrees, which must be at least a two-year degree such as an Associates degree (or equivalent), may be obtained from any legitimate, recognized higher education institution, but must not be based solely or primarily upon academic credits awarded for &#8220;life experiences&#8221; or &#8220;experiential learning&#8221; or similar non-coursework credit.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Qualifying Health Care Professional Experience:<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Qualifying health care professional experience includes clinical work as substance use disorders counselors,\u00a0registered nurses, marriage and family therapists, licensed clinical social workers, etc.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Specified Training Course:<\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The specified training course must be provided by a Breining Institute Accredited (BIA) Program provider. The course must include at least 150 hours in five specific Modules of training.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The training must build upon the applicant\u2019s previous knowledge and skills developed to be awarded the underlying credential and\/or license, in order to provide advanced education and training to comprehensively support individuals struggling with addiction, mental health and\/or behavioral issues:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Module 1 &#8211; Introduction to Intervention and Case Management<\/strong><br \/>\nAn overview of the principles and strategies on which to develop skills to successfully conduct interventions and provide the appropriate support post intervention.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Module 2\u00a0&#8211; Family Systems<\/strong><br \/>\nFamilies struggle to know what to do when faced with these issues. The coursework must explore family dynamics, make certain the student understands family systems and learn how to create a recovery plan for the entire family, as well as explore how to intervene when codependency is a component of family dynamics, including relapse risk.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Module 3 &#8211; <\/strong><strong>Business Ethics \/ Professionalism \/ Self Care<\/strong><br \/>\nUnderstanding best practices that are guided by a code of ethics is important to providing top-level client care. As a provider, maintaining professionalism is critical. Training must ensure the student understands ethical considerations as an interventionist, case manager and within the treatment industry. The training must also highlight the importance of self-care and how a well-maintained provider will be able to provide the highest level of care for clients.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Module 4\u00a0&#8211; Cultural Sensitivity<\/strong><br \/>\nBeing culturally sensitive can be the difference between engaging a family and preventing\u00a0the process of change. Understanding and awareness is the first step to meeting the needs of clients. Included in the training must be specific information related to issues that may be present within specialty populations such as older adults, adolescents, LGBTQ, First Responders, and Veterans.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Module 5 &#8211; Addictions and Co-occurring Disorders<\/strong><br \/>\nDrug and\/or alcohol addictions are not the only issues facing the families with whom we work. Many have co-occurring mental health issues or process addictions that can make intervention and case management more complex and challenging. The coursework must make certain that students are able to identify, work with and support clients who have complex presentations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\">Breining Institute does not charge institutions a fee to earn BIA Program recognition. In order to obtain BIA status, the institution or program must submit and have approved a detailed\u00a0application to Breining Institute. To be eligible to be designated a BIA Program for the CCMI Credential, the institution must provide detailed information that specifically addresses the five CCMI Modules.
