RHODA McFARLAND is a faculty instructor and mentor who has been a
teacher and educator since 1958, and has been an addictions counselor since 1983. Ms.
McFarland has served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Belize, Central America, presenting
in-service training workshops, assisting the Ministry of Education Curriculum Development
Unit in the incorporation of drug education component within its curriculum, and training
high school teachers in basic counseling skills. She has been a Breining faculty member
since 1986, and has also been an instructor in drug and chemical dependency studies at
University of California, Davis, California State University, Sacramento, and American
River College in Sacramento. Ms. McFarland has appeared frequently in workshops and
television programs dealing with youth programs, and has authored numerous books for young
people, including Coping through Assertiveness, Coping with Substance Abuse, Coping
through Self Esteem, and Drugs and Your Parents. Ms. McFarland is a certified
drug and alcohol abuse counselor by California Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse
Counselors (CAADAC), by the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors
(NAADAC), and by the International Certification Reciprocity Consortium
(ICRC). She earned
her Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Sacramento. |
