NANCY K.
OTTERNESS, Ph.D., a Licensed Clinical Psychologist,
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage Family Child Counselor and Diplomat in
Clinical Social Work, is a faculty instructor and mentor. Currently in private practice,
Dr. Otterness has served as Director, Department of Social Work and Chief Psychiatric
Social Worker, Department of Psychiatry for Sutter Community Hospital; Acting Director for
Catholic Social Service; Supervising Psychiatric Social Worker for the State of
California, Department of Mental Hygiene; and as a Psychiatric Consultant for Loretto High
School. In addition to her active involvement in numerous professional organizations
including the California State Psychological Association, the California
Association of Psychological Providers, the National Association of Social Workers and the
National Association of Marriage & Family Therapists she has been involved
extensively in community activities, including her serving as a member of the State of
California Task Force - Advisory Committee on Aging, the Sacramento County Health Care
Advisory Task Force, and the Sacramento County Mental Health Advisory Board, the
Sacramento-El Dorado County Medical Auxiliary She has also served as chairperson of the
Silkworth Memorial Fund for the Advanced Study and Treatment of Addictive Disorders, and
as the chair of the Board of Trustees for both the Slocan House Residential Treatment
Facility and St. Michaels Episcopal Day School. Dr. Otterness earned her MSW in
Clinical Social Work from University of California - Berkeley, and her Ph.D. in Clinical
Psychology from Professional School of Psychology, San Francisco. |
