JEROME A.
LACKNER, M.D., J.D., a Primary Care Internist with a
subspecialty in Alcoholism and Addiction Medicine since 1979, is a faculty instructor and
mentor. Dr. Lackner has served as a Lecturer in Law and Medicine at Santa Clara University
School of Law from 1973 to 1985, as an Associate Clinical Professor, Department of Family
Practice, University of California, Davis, School of Medicine from 1979 to 1989, and was a
Clinical Faculty member of the Rheumatology Clinic University of California, San
Francisco, from 1963 to 1967. In 1975, he was appointed by the Governor of California to
serve as the States Director of Health. Dr. Lackner currently serves as Medical
Consultant, Chemical Dependency Services, for Charter Hospital Sacramento; Medical
Director, U.A. Local 447 Pipe Trades Trust Funds Employee Assistance Program; and Medical
Consultant, U.A. 447 Health and Welfare Program. He has served as a member or board member
of numerous prestigious organizations, including the American Society of Addiction
Medicine; the Physician Well-being Committee, Sutter Community Hospitals, Sacramento; a
member of the Board of Directors, Union of American Physicians; the Professional Standards
committee of the Santa Clara County Medical Society; and served as a member of the Federal
Court-appointed Committee to Investigate Medical Care in the Santa Clara County Jails. Dr.
Lackner has received numerous awards and honors, including the first recipient of the John
F. Kennedy Award for activities in the area of human rights by the Catholic Interracial
Council of Santa Clara County; the Kaiser Foundation Hospitals Annual Award for Excellence
in Teaching Clinical Sciences; the Harold Cole Annual Memorial Award for Outstanding
Contributions in the Field of Alcoholism; and the Sacramento-El Dorado Medical Society
Medical Honor Award for exemplary care of individuals with alcohol and chemical
dependencies. Dr. Lackner earned his medical degree from the University of Southern
California School of Medicine, performed his residency and internship at Santa Clara
Valley Medical Center, and earned his Juris Doctorate from Santa Clara University School
of Law. |
