  DANIEL M. ORTIZ, who served as Executive Director of the Mexican-American Alcoholism Program from 1991 to 1997, and currently serves as a Contract Administrator for the State of California Department of Health Services, Cancer Detection Section, is a faculty instructor and mentor.  Mr. Ortiz has also served as the Targeted Assistance Manager for the San Joaquin County Human Services Agency-Refugee Assistance Program; Program Planner for the San Joaquin County Department of Aging, Children’s and Community Services; Program Planner for the Community Action Agency of San Joaquin County; and as Special Projects Coordinator for the California Indian Manpower Consortium, Inc. He has also served as Vice-Chair for the California State Advisory Council of Refugee Assistance and Services; Secretary of the California Welfare Directors Association; as a Member of the Asian Pacific Counseling Center; and has been appointed by the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors to serve on the Title 1 HIV Health Services Planning Council. Mr. Ortiz reads, writes and speaks Spanish, holds a Secondary Teaching Credential in Social Science, earned a Professional Certificate in Alcohol and Drug Studies from University of California, Davis, and earned his Bachelor of Arts in Social Science from California State University, Bakersfield, in 1977.
