Breining Institute was first approved to offer
addiction education courses in 1986 by the State of
California Board of Education, and, after a
comprehensive accreditation
process, our most current
institutional approval is from the State of California
Board for Private Postsecondary and Vocational
Education (BPPVE) to offer certificate and degree

The NAADAC National Certification Commission has approved the
eligibility of the Breining
Institute Masters and Doctorate
degrees as qualifying degrees

the California 155-hour alcohol and other drug (AOD) education
requirement to be certified as an addiction counselor,
includes TAP 21
Counselor

satisfies the educational requirement for the

nationally-accredited Registered Addiction Specialist (RAS)
credential
