SACRAMENTO,
California (October 26, 2010) - The William R. Mead Training
Academy has announced that it is now enrolling students for
its substance abuse counselor and clinical supervisor
training courses.
The Mead Academy provides
courses in addiction counseling that meet the requirements
for certification in drug and alcohol counseling, including
the nationally-accredited and State of California-approved
Registered Addiction Specialist (RAS) certification issued
by Breining Institute.* Mead's next classes in its Alcohol
and Other Drug Studies program start November 6, in San
Diego, California.
Mead also
offers a Clinical Supervisor course that is approved by
Breining as qualifying course work for its Clinical
Supervisor Credential (CSC) certification.** These three-day
courses are offered at three California locations, and will
begin January 26, 2011 in Colton, February 28 in San Diego,
and March 15 in Fresno.
Faculty
for the Mead Academy courses include Mary Hubbard, who is
certified by Breining Institute as both a CSC and a Masters
Level RAS (M-RAS) professional.
"We are
always pleased to see exam applications from Mead Academy
students, because the Academy has one of the highest passing
rates in the country for students sitting for the RAS
written examination," explained Kathy L. Christopher, Dean
of Academic Affairs for Breining Institute. "We commend the
Academy for the high level of education and training that it
is providing these students, which is reflected in its
superior examination pass rate." The most current statistics
show that 80% of the Mead Academy graduates pass the exam
the first time, and that they have an overall 93% pass rate,
one of the best rates in the United States.
