Opened and
headed up by Breining Institute alumnus Steven C. VanGelder, Dr.AD,
Adult
Counseling & Psychotherapy of Lake County (ACPOLC), located
in Tavares, Florida,
is an outpatient
behavioral health center exclusively for
adults.
While working on his Doctorate
in Addictive Disorders (Dr.AD) Degree at Breining Institute
(class of 2004), one of Dr. VanGelder's research papers -
Internet Addiction: Is the Internet a "pathological agent"
includable as a disorder separate from other psychiatric
diagnoses? - was published in the Journal of
Addictive Disorders, an on-line publication that
includes academic articles from Breining graduate students
and some outside invited addiction professionals (http://breining.edu/TheJOURNAL.htm).
Dr.
VanGelder's Internet Addiction article was also
selected for inclusion within The Addiction
Professional: Manual for Counselor Competency, 2nd Edition
(2008), a comprehensive training manual which is the basis
for all of the questions asked in the nationally
administered examination for the nationally-accredited
Registered Addiction Specialist (RAS) credential.
Dr.
VanGelder is also a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (Lic No
MH9157) in the State of Florida.
